Why I created Kindred Spirits Schoolhouse
Hello everyone! I am Bianca—seasoned teacher of 20+ years, devoted mother of two boys and founder of Kindred Spirits Schoolhouse. I created the Schoolhouse, because, after years as a teacher in the public school system, I saw the need for a new path in the educational journey.
Within the school system, I experienced, firsthand, the absence of morality; the decline of wholesome values; the disintegration of traditions; as well as attacks on those who hold God and country in high esteem. Aligning myself with an institution that had become morally lost was something I no longer could participate in. I bid farewell to public school in 2021, after the birth of my second son, and never looked back.
I felt compelled to bring my vision of a modern take on a one-room schoolhouse to fruition. My strong desire to bring back traditional educational values and developmentally appropriate practices, guided its creation.
As a young child, I was inspired to become a teacher by the works of L. M. Montgomery, particularly Anne of Green Gables and her multi-age, one-room schoolhouse. It was there, in that book, that I was first introduced to the term “kindred spirits”; people connected through common values, beliefs and feelings.
Kindred Spirits Schoolhouse is a learning community where families with shared values and beliefs can come together to learn, play explore and socialize, unobstructed by the societal trends that currently dominate the educational system.
Now, more than ever, this world is in desperate need of intelligent, kind and good human beings who are guided by a strong moral compass. As a teacher (and a mother!), I feel it is my duty to help raise and educate those future generations.
